Tanja Rosenthal

Hey, I’m Tanja and I joined SoLaWi Bonn in April 2022.

I study agricultural sciences in Bonn. The curriculum is still, unfortunately, very theoretical and conventionally oriented, and I quickly realized that this is not the way I envision feeding people while responsibly dealing with nature.

I gained my first gardening experience in the last two and a half years on a Demeter farm where we worked ecologically, regeneratively and according to the principles of permaculture. I also had the opportunity to participate in a friend’s food forest garden project there, which awakened in me the great joy of permaculture.

For me it’s a great privilege to be part of the SoLaWi community. It’s a huge joy, every day, to be in the field with like-minded people – we share a common vision, which is to get out of the destructive way of farming – out of the exploitation of people and nature. Only by organizing together, and by starting to live alternative concepts within the bars that capitalism imposes on us, can we create a better world. A world where people, animals and nature can live in harmony.

“All progress in capitalist agriculture is a progress in the art, not only of robbing the laborer, but of robbing the soil.” — Karl Marx
